August in Bloom

August in Bloom

It really is August in Bloom, it’s my
Birthday month and it has started off great. My recovery from back surgery is going well and I am back on my feet.  So this post is a mixture of how my week has been and my take on the things I have bought and the products gifted to me so far.  Now, if you are a member of the SpaceNK NDulge group, which I am, they generously gift you with a surprise bag to wish you a Happy Birthday and who doesn’t love getting presents right? The Lillies pictured on the cover are also a beautiful gift from my lovely neighbours.  So inside the bag what do we get?  Well I was really pleasantly surprised it contains, REN Skincare’s Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser, Lancer’s Cavier Lime Acid Peel and Rodial’s Dragon Blood Eye Mask.  So I thought, I might as well review these. All available from www.spacenk.com

Meeting the skin Goddess herself Caroline Hirons

Also this month SpaceNK were hosting an event in Belfast and the skincare Goddess (hail hail) Caroline Hirons was in attendance, this was to launch SpaceNKxCarolineHirons Clean Decoded Box, the box is amazing (and I will cover that in another post, coming soon) it contains £200 worth of products for £95! I know, amazing right?
So my Birthday month is starting off spectacularly, I’m recovering well after my back surgery (long story) and I got to meet Caroline Hirons in person, she is absolutely lovely, very down to earth, very funny, very tall and loves a good old Irish brew.  Most importantly, she knows skincare, although I was slightly embarassed, as my sister was the only one in the room who didn’t know who Caroline was, as I had dragged her along with me, but it is safe to say that Caroline has another new fan. Of course you can all check her out on www.carolinehirons.com

My take

A tiny bit of the super concentrated formula goes a long way, and the light-diffusing finish bounces back a little of the light that hits it, so the finish isn’t a completely flat matte. Skin still looks like skin.

It blends into the skin nicely and isn’t cakey at all. The coverage is high, yet it’s still light enough to be used under the eye as well as on any pesky blemishes. The staying power is great too, I only need one or two top ups throughout the day to keep my skin looking flawless. Available Here  £24

My take

I have read so many great reviews on this shampoo and although I have only used it once, this morning, I am a fan already. Everyone writes about the amazing scent and from the bottle it does smell amazing, however it doesn’t transfer to your hair. My hair feels clean, smooth and has the most amazing volume (salon style volume). Even the next morning my hair looks great, it’s a miracle, because my hair rarely looks good in the am. Only problem for me now is hiding this from daughter because it has her name on it. IGK Hydrating Shampoo Available Here

My Birthday Gift Bag

I just love it all.  So you can stop reading or read on, it’s up to you.

My Take

This does exactly what it says on the tin.  It works, it cleans, soothes, skin feels softer and smoother after use.  It is recommended for blemish prones skin, but I would recommend this to anyone, my own skin is not prone to breakouts and it feels great after use.  Although I was gifted this, it normally costs £21.00.  Available Here.  It will now be firmly in my skincare routine, try it yourself, honestly it is an affordable product that works.  It contains:

Lancers Caviar Lime Acid Peel (Sample Size – Gifted)

August in Bloom 7

Product Description

Dr. Lancer’s most powerful solution for dull, stressed skin, this advanced peel is formulated with 10% Glycolic Acid and Caviar Lime. This AHA blend works together with 10% brightening Phytic Acid to help resurface and remove surface cells, improving the look of pores and skin tone. Pineapple and Papaya fruit enzymes moisturize and help improve the appearance of uneven skin texture. Stabilized retinol helps refine the look of lines and wrinkles. Skin appears smoother, softer and more even with a youthful glow.

My Take

This product is absolutely amazing, you will notice a difference in your skin from first use, although it is £90 for 50ml you will not require too much for the face and if only using once or twice a week it would be a luxury.  There are cheaper acid peels on the market, DCL Multi Action Penta Peel is £58 and contains 50 pads.  I love this product it contains Australian caviar lime extract, this is a brilliant ingredient for smoothing out the skin and improving its radiance and this is exactly what this product does.

Victoria Beckham uses this product and Victoria said “Dr. Lancer just gave me one of his new products—it’s called the Lancer Caviar Lime Acid Peel. It’s got glycolic and various different acids in it. You put it on and you can tell it’s very active right away. You can really feel it—I only keep it on for 15 minutes. I got it the last time I went to see him in LA. My skin used to be so problematic and he’s the one who finally got it sorted”.

Don’t be put off by the word acid. It should be an essential part of your skincare regimen, and without it you’ll never have that glow, radiance and healthy luminosity. Available Here

August in Bloom 8

Product Description

These innovative gel eye masks combine expertise in bio-cellulose technology (acts like a second skin) with our unique dragon’s blood complex to intensely hydrate and moisturise the delicate eye area with our unique dragon’s blood complex with an immediate de-puff effect. With a cooling effect, skin under the eyes is left feeling comforted and refreshed whilst arnica extract helps reduce appearance of baggy eyes and puffiness for an instantly brighter eyed appearance. This is a great gel eye mask treatment for prepping the under eye area before a big event.

My Take

Well I haven’t actually tried these yet, but i’m hoping to use them quite soon.  So I will definitely give my take on them in a future post.  The name “Dragon’s Blood” is not a made up name it is an actual ingredient from the sap of a very special tree which is red, hence, the name.  So looking forward to these.  They cost £39 and for that you get 8 masks. Alternatively, you can purchase one mask at £6 Available Here

Raffia Bag

August in Bloom 10

Just thought I would share this raffia bag, I bought from Sabo Skirt, an Austrailian company.  I purchased this bag to take to Sorrento, Italy, I like that it is crossbody and small, although large enough to hold everything I will need and I think it looks fantastic.  It cost me £23 or $38 AUD. What do you think of it? Available Here
